Did you know that Pietermaai is one of the most beautiful districts of Willemstad? And that you can find the best restaurants of the island here? This district is really upcoming and everywhere nice bars pop up in the small colorful alleys. You can find very nice boutique hotels here, but my favorite is Beach House Pietermaai.

As a guest you will feel right at home because Beach House Pietermaai feels immediately as home and everything is just perfectly styled.

Cindy the hostess of the house is if you ask me, the best host you could wish for. She has an eye for detail and together with her husband they have completely rebuilt this old house into a great private home with private pool for a perfect getaway holiday at Curacao.
Once you walk left through the gate into the small alleyway and put the key in the wooden gate to open it, you won’t know what you see or where to look when the door opens. Welcome drink with a view
Upon entering, a cold bottle of bubbles was immediately waiting with a personalized attention on the chalkboard. What I love about Beach House Pietermaai is that the living room has a huge sliding door that can be opened all the way, merging the house with the patio.
Even on a rainy day (not very common) but we happened to have a day of non-stop rain, it was great to stay here, because you feel that you really become one with nature. And it is quite impressive when the sea is turbulent and you sit inside dry and warm, because on Curacao is never cold 🙂
After rain comes sunshine
Curaçao is now also popular by digital nomads or people who want to go abroad for a longer period of time to work abroad or to spend the winter in a warm country. We did that too and it was really great to experience that.
The government has even introduced “At Home at Curaçao” and thus eased the residence conditions for this group so that you can now even stay for a year on Curaçao. Fortunately, the Internet is super fast here (fiber) and reliable at Beach House Pietermaai. Just perfect for remote workers who want to stay for a long time on Curaçao.

Beach House Pietermaai is suitable for 4 adults or 2 adults with 2 children, because they have a separate studio (with private bathroom) as well right next to the pool with direct sea view. Pietermaai is known for all its fine restaurants and cozy bars and all within walking distance. Here are a few restaurant tips for the fine taster among us:

Pietermaai is best known for is its colorful houses, which are a especially favorite among the Instagrammers among us. What is really fun to do and a tip from me to rent a Tuk Tuk and book a tour through the districts Otrabanda (the Other Side) or Punda (the oldest district of Willemstad).

Coffee Drive Thru in Pietermaai
Across the street from Beach House Pietermaai you will now also find Pietermaai’s first coffee drive thru “Van Gogh Specialty Coffee” at the parking lot immediately to the right of the light blue building (see picture below).
As we speak, starting next week you can pick up the tastiest coffee made by a real barista at the black Van Gogh Oldtimer Citroen van that you can drive around without having to get out. Very Covid proof and believe me, really good coffee is scarce in Curacao so if you’re in the neighborhood, don’t forget to stop by.

He evaluates coffee and beans like a wine connoisseur evaluates his grapes and wines. With passion and expertise. To conclude
Pietermaai has stolen my heart and gives such a different view of the island than the rest of Curacao. The real bon vivant comes here to celebrate its holiday with the best restaurants within walking distance, the cozy bars hidden in the colorful alleys and every time you see a new trendy bar in this neighborhood opening its doors.
Choosing Beach House Pietermaai was also the best choice for a wonderful vacation in Curacao. Once you’ve been here, you want to go back so be sure to book ahead, because Cindy and David get many returning guests who have discovered the beauty of this special piece of Pietermaai.
