Luxury Holiday at Coral Estate Luxury Resort Curacao

Hidden between the greenery on one of the most beautiful spots on the southwest coast of Curaçao is located Coral Estate Luxury Resort. A unique resort with beautiful private villas high on the hill overlooking the sea and below the fine resort with different types of apartments you can book for a wonderful vacation on Curaçao.

Coral Estate Luxury Resort is an ideal base if you like peace, quiet and good food because at the resort you will also find Coral Rooftop Bar where you can join every Saturday for a delicious sushi night and the famous Karakter Beach Lounge Restaurant right by the sea. In addition, Coral Estate is less than a 15 minutes drive from the beautiful white sandy beach Playa Porto Marie. If you ask me the perfect base to discover the island for a successful holiday on Curacao.

Coral Estate Luxury Resort

During our 3 month stay in Curacao we booked a weekend at Coral Estate Luxury Resort. Less than a 25 minutes drive from Hato International Airport and half an hour drive from “Westpunt”, we booked a superior apartment (see photos below) with our 2 daughters of 1.5 and 3.5 years old.

Terrace Superior Apartments

All Superior Apartments have 2 large bedrooms and 2 spacious bathrooms. The open kitchen and bright living room all border the outdoor terrace. Just perfect if you ask me with 2 small children, because you open the sliding doors in the morning and you walk straight onto the resort towards the pool.

Magical, in the early morning

My children always wake up early, but that’s okay because it’s always warm in Curaçao. And while everyone is still lying on one ear, Sofie and Emma are already paddling by the pool. We look out over the sea while the sky slowly turns pink as the sun rises. A magical moment in all the peace and quiet of dawn.

When Vincent has also woken up we all sit down together for breakfast downstairs at the sea at “Karakter”. While the kids choose an extensive breakfast menu with daddy, I take a standard superfood bowl. The menu at Karakter is also an absolute must for lunch and dinner. Evening reservations are recommended because guests outside the resort also like to come here.

Then it’s time to explore the (small) bay below. On the other side you will find a raised sandy beach. If you want to swim you can use a staircase to enter the water. The sunbeds are free and you will also find lounge beds with wooden swings here and there. Do not forget to walk to the end where you will find a natural staircase into the sea.

After breakfast, it’s time to chill by the pool. Coral Estate Luxury Resort has a very nice rooftop bar called “Koraal” right next to the pool, where you can order drinks, cocktails, snacks and food all day long. And while the little ones are having fun in the pool, mom and dad chill in the lounge corner while we enjoy our time as a family here.

All that swimming naturally makes you hungry and we are lucky that there is a real bakery “Bread & More” here at the resort.  Bread & More is the only one here on the island and believe me you will find here the real French croissants, homemade quiches and delicious homemade cheescakes.

Also for lunch there is plenty of choice of pizzas and pastas and you can order take-away and eat it in your own cottage. I think this bakery is really an asset to the resort, because good coffee with a nice freshly baked roll always makes your day 🙂

The next day (Sunday) it is time for a day out and since we love the beach, Playa Porto Marie was still high on the list. At less than a fifteen minutes drive (the route to it is already very beautiful) you arrive at this white sandy beach north of Coral Estate.

Playa Porto Marie is also well known for the pigs on the beach (kind of the idea of the pigs in the Bahamas), but you don’t have to come specifically for this, because I only saw a pig next to the beach bathing in the mud haha.

Really nice is the lookout tower over sea, the cute little store with the nice painting mural, but most of all the beautiful beach and the azure blue sea. You can also have lunch here and order drinks at the beach bar. Access to the beach is not for free and you also have to pay for a beach bed, but once you are settled you are assured of a whole day of beach fun.

In any case, we enjoyed a lot our weekend away. It went by much too quickly and therefore I can heartily recommend anyone with small children coming to Curacao, that Coral Estate Luxury Resort is a very nice place to spend your holiday.
