Since years Spain is my favorite holiday destination, and I enjoy going there a lot. It’s always sunny, the Spaniards are warm-hearted and the food is delicious. In the past years, I regularly visit Dénia. This old fishing town is located on the Costa Blanca, just in between Valencia and Alicante in front of the Balearic coast.
Dénia is still authentic. Around the remnants of the old castle on the hill, you can still get lost in the old streets of the fishing quarter. From here you reach Ibiza in less than 3 hours by boat; therefore it is the perfect base for exploring the Balearic islands and vice versa. Large yachts moor in the port of Dénia and create a nice contrast between the authentic quarter and the modern port.
Partly due to the arrival of these super yachts, Dénia is all upcoming! Have you always wondered what it is like to stay in a real affordable villa on one of the coasts in Spain? Now you have the chance to discover it, because I’ll give you a gift of €100 discount per booking!! Do you like to know how? Read along and you’ll find out…
The villa where I always stay (see link below) has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and can accommodate 6 to 7 people. It is beautifully situated in the hills of Dénia on the side of Jávea.
At less than 3 km, you find yourself in the middle of the old town or on the beach. Did you know that Dénia has one of the longest beaches of the Costa Blanca, with a total of more than 14 km of sandy beach?
The villa itself, located in one of the most beautiful residential areas of Denia, is an oasis of peace and has great sea views. Especially in summer you see many white sailing boats that cruise along the coast and the “Balearia” boat that travels every day to Ibiza or Formentera and back.
In the garden of the villa you find various fruit trees. Depending on the season, you can pick here your own lemons, oranges, pomegranates, or even figs! And believe me, the last ones are the most delicious freshly picked under the Spanish sun.
In addition to the 3 bathrooms inside the villa, the owners have also built an outdoor shower next to an old olive tree. And while you’re showering you look out over the sea. The ultimate feeling of freedom!
Often I took a shower early in the morning right after the sun came up, to then drink a coffee in the sun room of the villa with beautiful views over the hills and the sea.
The Montgó is a mountain of 753 meters high and dominates the landscape of Dénia and Jávea. Halfway the mountain, you can stroll along the Roman path and true fanatics can climb to the top of this mountain.
Tip: rent a scooter! It’s fun to rent a scooter and to ride through the hills of Dénia. Behind each curve you see something new and not any house is the same. In no time you reach the sea and within 10 minutes you find yourself in the city center. Super convenient, because you can park your scooter right outside your door and you almost always find a parking space downtown.
At home in the villa you’re completely immersed in an authentic Spanish atmosphere, surrounded by Bougainvillea plants, and a pleasant breeze is blowing through the trees.
