Romantic weekend in Heidelberg

A couple years ago, I lived in Munich for half a year during my international study. The time I spent in ‘Beieren’ was unforgettable. Since then I’ve become hooked on everything that has to do with the German culture. I’m a big fan of ‘Butterbretzel’ for example – you know, those salty sticks but in bread form – which I prefer with fresh butter, but a plate of Schweinehaxe with Knödeln can also not be forgotten during a visit to a real Bierstube. It’s mostly the charm and coziness of the German cities that appeal to me and that’s why I feel more than at home there.

During my last trip through Germany I ended up in Heidelberg. Heidelberg is a picturesque city, situated in the south-west of Germany and in the northern part of the state of Baden-Württemberg. Heidelberg is mostly a great destination to just stroll around in, enjoy the many terraces and to go out for dinner in the evening. Because Heidelberg is a true student city there’s enough to do in the evening. Read More…

A piece of Italy in the South of Limburg, The Netherlands

In my previous blog I took you to the high North of the Netherlands, where I let myself get carried away by the beautiful nature of Vlieland. This time I will travel all the way down South where I settled down near Landgraaf in the province of Zuid-Limburg. This area is mostly known for its glowing landscape and grapevines.

As a true wine lover, you don’t have to travel all the way to Italy anymore, but you can enjoy everything this region has to offer like a true Burgundian. The fall this year is beautiful and the nature is at its most beautiful, but also later on during wintertime when everything is white, this place is definitely recommended for a weekend away.

Vlieland, hidden treasure of Holland

A couple years ago I was at Vlieland for the first time and I was truly amazed. I found it so beautiful! I have been able to see a lot of the world, but I was truly impressed by how beautiful this place is. I just couldn’t believe the Netherlands has such beautiful islands. Especially Vlieland with its beautiful white beaches.

From the moment you set foot ashore you literally enter a different world. It starts with the boat ride from Harlingen (Friesland). You leave your car behind, because you can’t take that with you. During the trip across the Waddenzee which lasts 1.5 hours, you can enjoy the view from the top of the deck and if you’re lucky you might spot some seals.

Andaz Amsterdam, Hyatt’s luxury boutique hotel

Let’s just kick the door down. Hotel Andaz is one of the most beautiful hotels of Amsterdam. Special, unique in its kind and above all a real work of art. It opened its doors at the end of 2012 as a 5-star boutique hotel as part of the famous Hyatt chain. Andaz has a special meaning too. It means “personal style” in Hindi. At this moment, the Andaz label has 12 boutique hotels all across the world. Among others in Japan, China, Costa Rica, Hawaii, London and now in Amsterdam as well.

The Andaz Hotel is situated at the Prinsengracht in the ancient library of Amsterdam and is completely redesigned by the Dutch architect Marcel Wanders. Every Andaz hotel is unique in its kind and therefore really special. Marcel Wanders strikingly redesigned the former building into a stylish hotel with all services and quality that we know from Hyatt.

From Amsterdam with Love Hotel V Nesplein

Hotel V Nesplein is a hotel with a story. Upon arrival your attention is drawn by the huge crystal chandelier hanging in the hall. This amazing chandelier symbolizes the world of theatre, because Hotel V Nesplein is located in the former theatre district of Amsterdam.

Next to that is Hotel V Nesplein a true Amsterdam family business. It is run by 11th generation born and raised Amsterdam people. How special is that! The owners have a big passion for the history of the city and knew how to design Hotel V Nesplein creatively. The interior is a combination of vintage chic with an industrial twist.

Traditional fisherman at Inle Lake

Those who visit Myanmar can not miss Inle Lake. Inle Lake is a very large lake in the middle of Myanmar and is especially well-known for its traditional fishermen, also called “leg rowers”, because they keep their hands free for their fishing nets. These fishermen’s lives take place mostly on this lake. Whole villages have been built on poles and even their vegetables and fruits are cultivated in genuine floating vegetable gardens.

Brand New Hotel Amara Bangkok

Bangkok: dazzling heart of Asia and metropolis where everything comes together. On one side there’s the life in the streets with all the bustle and the sociability where the locals determine everyday rhythm, on the other side there are modern neighborhoods full of luxury hotels and super big shopping malls. I love both worlds and mostly let the diversity of this city seduce me.

You can choose a nice hotel in the vicinity of Khao San Road, but it’s nicer to visit one of the newest hotels that Bangkok gained since March of this year, namely the Amara Hotel. Amara Bangkok is part of the Amara Group which already has two hotels in Singapore and Shanghai. Besides staying a night it is definitely worth dining or drinking a cocktail on the great rooftop with the infinity pool. Tip: visit the rooftop bar at sunset and enjoy the amazing view. Read More…
