Tongsai Bay, special place at a private bay

Tongsai Bay is a beautiful hotel in the middle of nature. The previous owner discovered this private bay over 30 years ago on Koh Samui and built the resort himself. He even slept on the beach at night! The love for nature that he had back then and the wish to preserve nature as much as possible can still be found at the hotel. Nowadays Tongsai Bay is over 10 hectares big and it’s truly a tropical paradise.

The resort houses many different accommodations from deluxe rooms along the pool to cottage villas and villas with a private pool. Tongsai bay is so outstretched that you can be transported by buggy. But, it doesn’t feel that big, because you can still walk everywhere. The only path you need to follow is the path down, towards the pool and the ogling sea of Choeng Mon Beach.

I’ve always wanted a villa with a private pool and I got one at Tongsai Bay, it was incredible! The infinity pool has a view of the private bay of Cheong Mon Beach. When we arrived, there was a small storm, but that didn’t stop our fun.

I loved to see how the huge waves entered the bay with great violence. And the villa was no joke either. It felt like a complete house with multiple quarters. The interior was warm and modernly designed using beautiful and durable materials. We immediately felt at home!

The resort has two big swimming pools. One is exclusively for adults and the other one is located near the sea. The sunbeds there are like matrasses, so soft! Every guest gets free water served all day through and they even bring you fresh fruits. Oh my, what service!

The most special about it all was the private pool of our villa in my opinion. You can relax all day long from the early mornings until late in the evenings, under the wooden hood of your lounge house surrounded by white waving curtains.

This view never gets old!

Tongsai Bay is one of the few hotels in Thailand that fall under the SLH (Small Luxury Hotels of the World) label. There are only 520 luxury hotels and resorts around the world connected to this label. Every resort of SLH is unique in its kind and special in its own way. But they all give you that once-in-a-lifetime experience.

What I especially liked about Tongsai Bay is the beautiful nature that surrounds it. The garden is the central part of the resort where everything got built around. There are only few places on Koh Samui where you, as a guest, have access to a private bay.

Go kayaking during the day or use one of the many watersports like standing paddling.

And when the evening sets in, grab some dinner at the beach restaurant down at the beach. Once a week you get a true cinema at the beach. You can choose to watch the film while eating dinner, or you can just sit down in one of the bean bags and relax. And of course, there’s popcorn. That’s also being taken care of for you.

I really found it awesome to watch a classical Hollywood film under the stars with my feet buried in the sand. And if you don’t want to watch, no problem, because you always have your own pool to return to 🙂

I always wake up early, preferably before sunrise. And while I wait outside, the sun slowly rises. What a gift, that makes me so happy every single time! Because of the location and the great stay, Tongsai Bay has left me with really great memories.

How do you get here? Tongsai Bay is all the way up north on Koh Samui at the Choeng Mon beach. It’s only a 10 minute drive from the airport. You can ask the hotel for shuttle service. Most people come here to get there peace and quiet, but if you are looking for some more interactions, the popular Chaweng beach is only 15 minutes away.
