The luxurious Belmond Napasai is a 5-star resort that is idyllically situated in the north of Koh Samui. The tropical resort, nestled in a park-like garden of nearly 30 hectares, is located on the tranquil Ban Tai beach and offers stunning views of the sea. Belmond Napasai has a double meaning. Belmond stands for “Beautiful World” and Napasai means “Clear Sky”. Perfectly chosen because once here you really feel like you’ve landed in a small paradise on a beautiful day.
Belmond is the new name of the Orient-Express Hotels. With the new name, Belmond focuses on high-end hotels and offers as well luxury train tours and river cruises worldwide. In 2015 they had a total of 35 luxury hotels, 7 tourist trains, 3 river cruises and a restaurant in 22 countries around the world.
Belmond Napasai Resort
Belmond Napasai has everything to enjoy the peace, sun and sea in its surrounding. Guests appreciate the resort among others because of the beautiful landscaped garden that gradually leads down to the sea. Moreover, the individual Sea view villas give you all the comfort and luxury that you can wish for. The villas are stylishly decorated taking into account the Thai style.
The villas are extremely spacious and sophistically beautiful. The beach villas have spacious patios and sea views. Sliding doors connect the bathroom to the bedroom, creating a very spacious and open sensation. The bathrooms are equipped with a Terazzo bathtub and a rain shower. And while you shower, you have unobstructed sea view.
A warm welcome!
Villas Belmond
Belmond Napasai has 24 villas with private pools and 45 villas with a front row view of the sea. Thanks to the privacy and size, the resort conveys a friendly yet intimate atmosphere. For example, you do not have to be picked up and brought back to your villa with the buggy service, in contrary you can walk the grounds as much as you like. Personally, I believe this is an absolute plus.
From the private patio of your villa you can with good weather admire the beautiful sunset.
Little paradise
Guests of Belmond describe the resort as a small paradise, but to experience it for real you must go there once yourself. Every time, I find it fascinating how an architect manages to create the perfect balance between the resort and nature.
You walk literally in a tropical garden where butterflies flutter around you. Everywhere you walk, you can sense the scent of the Magnolia flower, and again I am tempted to smell her from nearby. While I enjoy intensely the surroundings, I see a hummingbird at 1 meter from my patio. I have never seen such a special bird so closely in nature. It’s very exceptional to see how the hummingbird, in a standstill, spreads his wings 50 times per second while taking the nectar from the flowers with its long beak.
Snacks and drinks by the pool
Once a week, the management of the resort organizes for all guests a drink by the pool. During this evening, while snacks and drinks are served, you can chat with other hotel guests in a very relaxed setting.
It is also a nice way to meet the management team in person. Chef cook Wally from Belgium, the very charming front desk host Olga from Russia, and the animated Food & Beverage Manager Jan. Each of them has a special story and shares the same passion called Belmond.
As a guest, you are indirectly affected by this Belmond virus and I discovered that I felt completely at home. It is therefore not only the location of the resort itself, but also the special bond that conveys the team, making this place so special.
Dutch speaking management
During these weekly get-togethers by the pool, the Resort Manager Jeroen and Belmond’s CEO Sven, are your Dutch-speaking hosts. Jeroen and Sven know exactly how to respond to the needs of their guests and are real people managers. It is not common, that the management of such a luxury resort is so concerned with their guests. And if you do not speak English no problem, because Sven speaks seven languages fluently. Originally from Germany, but as he has worked all over the world, he is also fluent in English, Dutch, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese!
Organic garden
Belmond Napasai recently cultivates their own crop in her eco-friendly vegetable garden. Chef cook Wally uses herbs and various vegetables in his endorsed self-composed dishes.
Head over for a dinner at the restaurant above the pool, serving traditional Thai cuisine or walk down to the beach where you indulge yourself with sea bass or rib-eye from the grill. The food is exquisite!
Children
Besides the vegetable garden, the resort also has its own animals. Especially the goats, chickens, geese and even the buffaloes are a great attraction for the kids. Belmond knows to entertain the kids in a creative way. Every day for about an hour, children can accompany someone from the team. They may look behind the scenes in the kitchen or come along with the handyman of the resort. That is what you call a nice, original and personal initiative!
Watersport
Belmond Napasai offers its guests free use of all water sport activities. These include stand-up paddling, sailing, snorkeling, kayaking and windsurfing. In addition, guests also have complimentary use the tennis court, gym and may even borrow mountain bikes to explore the area.
Conclusion
I appreciate Belmond Napasai for its intimate and friendly atmosphere, without loosing sight of the privacy and luxury that you may expect from a five star hotel. The staff is committed and transmits, together with the management, a positive drive. Guests can feel this and will feel right at home.
