The luxurious InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort is located at the most beautiful piece of Koh Samui. In the middle of a coconut plantation of 16 hectares in size. InterContinental is beautifully located on the sloping cliffs of this nature reserve and near the white sandy beaches of Taling Ngam Beach.
The 5 star hotel has a magnificent view of the west coast of Koh Kamui and the Marine National Park. While the east coast of Koh Samui is lively and known for its popular beaches, InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam offers an oasis of peace and quiet from the first moment you drive into the nature reserve.
While you slowly drive up to the top of the cliff you get the feeling you’re in the middle of the jungle. At the same time, you are drawn in by the beautiful sights that unfold all around you. When you get to the top an even bigger surprise awaits you when you enter the lobby for the first time.
From the moment you enter the open lobby, it’s so beautiful you don’t know where to look first. The view of the gulf of Thailand is spectacular and offers a panoramic view of over 180 degrees in an instant. Magnificent! Pictures can’t describe how impressive this is. That gives you another reason to visit this hotel yourself 🙂
Rooms InterContinental
All rooms have a view of the sea, but you can also rent private villas with your own swimming pool. The building is so big that you always have to be driven around in a “buggy” (sort of golf cart) all the time. The extremely friendly staff is always there for you and they truly are at your beck and call. As a guest of this 5 star top hotel, you’re short of nothing. Everybody makes sure you have a great time and an unbelievable experience.
You can’t wish for a more beautiful place to wake up with this view every day. The rooms are big and very atmospherically decorated. They’re all equipped with a little flat screen TV, DVD player and a sitting area. The balconies are spacious and have not only a little terrace seat, but also big lounge cushions in which you can lay down and enjoy the sun.
Breakfast is a treat. A Valhalla of choices between different fruits, Thai specialties, freshly baked bread, European goodies and special products. And even the sushi is a great breakfast replacement. And all of this is combined with a beautiful view of the Gulf of Thailand. After breakfast, go downstairs to the beach or dive into one of the swimming pools the resort has to offer.
What stuck with me the most about InterContinental is the kindness of the staff itself. During my stay, my boyfriend fell down the stairs and sprained his foot. Within no time the nurse of the hotel was at our bed. The days after we were spoiled with bowls of fruits for the ‘ill one’ and we even got a handwritten ‘get well soon’ card, personally signed by everyone of the management staff. What a service, absolutely great!
Infinity pool
My favorite, the infinity pool!
Air bar
Tip: Before you go out to dine, grab a drink at the stylish Air bar. The staff will serve a variety of delicious drinks and while you are enjoying your cocktail, you also get the best setting sun that you could ever wish for. The silence of the sea, the purity of nature and the beautiful colors that show up on the horizon made a deep impression on me. Just this alone is why a visit to InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam is more than worth it.
And while the sun slowly sets..
You get the perfect sunset.

Spa
And lastly I have to recommend the amazing massage in the Baan Thai Spa. In 2014, this spa at InterContinental was crowned winner of the ‘World Luxury Spa Award of Best Luxury Emerging Spa’ in Thailand!
I took the Oriental oil massage. This is where the masseuses use the palms of their hands, thumbs and fingers and apply a mix of Eastern and Western techniques. I totally understood why they were crowned winner of the best spa, because I felt completely Zen even days later.
