Special Cliff Hotel 5* Boutique Hotel The Houben

Upon arrival from the main pier, where you arrive by boat or by car, you take a tuk-tuk to the other side of the island (approx. 45 minutes drive). The ride takes you along the different resort the island has to offer. The further south you go, the more beautiful the ride gets along the unfolding jagged coastline.

Next to the National Park there is this especially small-scaled boutique hotel situated on a cliff with a fantastic view of the Andaman Sea. This hotel is run by a Belgian/Thai couple. The owner of The Houben has let the hotel be specially designed to have Eastern elements combined with modern Western influences. It is not just the design that surprises you, but more so the hospitality of the staff of The Houben.

Upon arrival you are personally awaited and from that moment all your worries are taken away. While you are sipping your welcome drink and get to meet the extremely friendly staff, your luggage is all ready in your room. A hotel room is not quite the right name, it’s more a suite with full sea view. The Deluxe room gives you the feeling of entering the villa of a millionaire. The view alone is fantastic! From your bed, it seems as if you are hovering over the sea, it’s so special.

The Deluxe room also has an own Jacuzzi as an extra luxury, with again full view of the Andaman Sea. So you can relax in your bath with a glass of bubbly while enjoying the setting sun, how cool is that! From the balcony you look over the extraordinary design of the pool – completely in red – and the underlying bay. The only thing you hear is the waves breaking against the cliff, carrying you to a different world where you calm down completely.

The Houben is only for adults, children under the age of 12 are not welcome. So it’s the perfect honeymoon destination! Also ideal for those who seek relaxation, because the complex only has 15 rooms to offer. The atmosphere at The Houben is extremely personal and friendly. The daughter of the owner, Shana, personally makes sure that every guest enjoys themselves. Shana, who comes from Belgium herself, lost her heart to this place and we get why. It is a certain feeling you get here, which you really never want to let go. Just the setting sun alone is magical here and at a moment like that, you do not need a lot more.

At walking distance from the hotel, there is a beautiful beach where you can dwell in the bay of Kantiang Bay. The prestigious Pimalai Resort is also located in this bay. A cute sight is the little monkeys coming from the bushes to play on the beach. The view of the sea alternated with rockwork on one side and the green hills of the bay on the other is beautiful. At the beach you will find a few bars and restaurants where you can have a nice lunch. All of this makes a visit to the Houben more than worth it and definitely unforgettable.
