According to many people, Koh Lanta is one of the most beloved islands of Thailand. Situated in the province Krabi in southern Thailand, this tropical paradise belongs – together with 14 surrounding islands – to the Koh Lanta National Marine Park in the Andaman Sea.
The east and west coast of the island are quite different. On the west side, you find breathtaking sandy beaches, while the east coast consists of cliffs and evergreen mangrove forest.
Koh Lanta is less touristy compared to the rest of Thailand and is therefore an ideal location for those seeking rest and relaxation. Of course, you find also some entertainment in one of the nice bars on the beach, where you can sit down in the evening with a drink and enjoy the spectacular sunset.

This beautiful 4-star resort is surrounded by 12 acres of landscaped gardens and surrounded by a 3 kilometer long white sand beach, called Klong Dao Beach. If you are looking for luxury and comfort in a prime location, then is the Twin Lotus Resort a perfect choice!
The design of the resort is a combination of elegant contemporary design with a modern Thai touch, along with excellent amenities, that guarantee a relaxing stay for all guests. The Twin Lotus Resort offers a total of 81 rooms and villas ranging from Superior and Deluxe rooms to one and two-person villas. The rooms and villas are spacious and spread across the gardens. They have soft and natural colors that perfectly match the environment of the resort.
Seaview Villas
The exclusive detached Deluxe villas have fantastic sea views or are located right on the beach. Each villa has a private, covered outdoor seating and is finished with natural bamboo materials and soft earth tones.
Garden Rooms
The spacious and stylish garden rooms are built in small blocks that are located in the beautiful gardens of the resort. I felt right at home in the warm decor of this room and was welcomed with fresh flowers that were spread on my bed.
Blue Fah Restaurant
In the main restaurant, Blue Fah, breakfast and diner is served daily. The chic restaurant is located in a completely open space and has a modern, but warm interior. Culinary enthusiasts can enjoy a wide range of delicious international and Thai dishes.
You can even pick out a nice spot on the beach and — with your feet in the sand — let yourself be seduced by a plate of delicious fresh seafood while enjoying the sunset; because they are great on Koh Lanta!
Facilities
The resort offers many amenities such as a large range of comfortable lounge areas where you can enjoy a drink throughout the day. If you opt for a day of relax, then you are at the right place. Catch some sun at the edge of the pool, take a nap on the beach or pamper yourself at the wonderful Spa.
The Bua Luang Spa & Wellness Center offers a wide range of treatments, ranging from detox programs to traditional Thai therapies and relaxing massages.
Klong Dao Beach
The beautiful, 3 km long Klong Dao Beach is actually one of the few beaches on Koh Lanta, which is almost completely free of rocks. This, combined with the clear, shallow waters make it a great location for swimming, relaxing or walking.
Sunsets at Koh Lanta
Are you also — just like me — always exited for the moment the sun is disappearing into the sea? Then you should definitely consider to travel to Koh Lanta. The sunsets here are magical. Within a few minutes of time, the horizon is glowing with different colors. Time after time this is a breathtaking experience and I never get enough of it.
How to get there?
Ko Lanta is accessible from the mainland by car or ferry. The ferry operates only from November to April and is the most popular option at this time. The ferries arrive at Sala Dan pier in the north of Koh Lanta.
During the off season and after the last passenger ferry has left, you can reach the island only by car. From Phuket it is about 4½ hours driving.
If you travel to Koh Lanta from Bangkok, you’ll need to take first a plane or bus to Krabi. Krabi Airport is a 1.5-hour drive from Koh Lanta.
