I was really enthusiastic when Kasia asked me to write a guest blog for Stylish Travel Tips. And because I (Debbie) have been living in this great, beautiful and hip Copenhagen for the past 8 years, I know all the good spots pretty well and would like to share these with you. I have made a nice mix match of eating / shopping / design and other hot spots, I hope you will read along!
Brunching is completely hot&happening in Copenhagen, especially during weekends the Danish all go out for a nice brunch in a hip café with their friends and you definitely should do this too at the new hotspot Møller kaffe og køkken, which just opened in the hipster area Nørrebro. As soon as you enter you get that ‘wow’ vibe from the trendiness, coziness and beautiful interior.
Because you’re already strolling around Copenhagen you should actually visit the really small coffee bar and hotel (I believe it’s even the smallest hotel and bar in the world) with 1 bedroom, Bar & Hotel Central, which is situated in the trendy district Frederiksberg. If you want to book this room, make sure you’re doing it soon, because it’s really popular and fully booked quickly.
This is definitely one of my favorite shopping streets in Copenhagen. In the Værnedamsvej, which lies between the hipster area Vesterbro and Frederiksberg, you will find everything you may look for in a hip city. From design stores, clothing boutiques and delis to popular cafes and the best butcher and fishmongers. Don’t forget to pop into Dora for beautiful Scandinavian retro design accessories for your home.
For the real design lovers among us there are a lot of beautiful stores with Danish design in the city, but the small, cute store Stilleben is one that stands out. They sell a lot of pretty Danish design items like vases, plaques, lamps and jewelry but also fabrics and bags. It’s pretty expensive, but you get great quality in return!
This super new hot spot just opened on the popular Jægersborggade in the neighborhood Nørrebro. It’s also the first concept boutique. Cactuses are really booming right now, wherever you look, in living magazines, Instagram and boutiques, you see them everywhere in cute pots, big and small! If you are looking for a little cactus or just want to get inspired, just visit Kaktus København.
One of my favorite shops is Moss Copenhagen. They always have such a fun collection of clothes; it’s Danish, hip and affordable. Luckily the Moss boutiques are spread out throughout the city and you can find one in every part of the city.
Okker Gokker is a super nice boutique with the hippest Danish brands and baby & kids’ clothing on the Gammel Kongevej, in the beautiful district Frederiksberg. Here you can find (which is unfortunate for your wallet) something nice every time! Especially if you like Danish and Scandinavian brands and baby clothes. It’s just a little bit different from your own home brands. All hip mamas can go wild here!
Between all the shopping and strolling through the city you sometimes get hungry for something sweet, right?! Well, at café Bertels you can enjoy the most delicious cheesecakes. The choice is literally huge and you can stand outside of the window and drool over all the flavors of cake you’ll have to pick from! The slices are pretty rich but o so good, try the cheesecake with liquorish flavor or with lemon merengue for example, yummy!
For a nice night out with super delicious tapas and Spanish wines you are best off eating at Toro, the newest Tapas hot spot in town. Toro is on the well-known Istedgade, where many nice trendy shops and cafés are, in the hipster district Versterbro. The interior will make you happy too, simple, classy but elegant and cozy with natural and wood colors.
Like I said before, the Istedgade in Vesterbro is very hip and popular with its many nice shops, cafés and coffee bars. But this small stylish interior boutique really pops out, namely Girly Hurly. Even if you’re not looking for anything you have to take a look here. Because the cute gadgets for your home are going to make you really happy. Here you’ll find retro design, hip Scandinavian brands but also cute jewelry and lamps. So don’t skip this!
