My second pregnancy: Sofie gets a sister!

I am 38 weeks pregnant now and I have such a feeling that this little girl, just like her “big sister”, will come a bit earlier. At the last minute last week I did a nice maternity shoot on the Buurserzand (the Netherlands), together with my dear friend and talented maternity photographer Linda Krommenhoek.

Autumn has arrived and the colours of the leaves slowly turn red. As the sun slowly sets, I dream away how it will be to be a family of 4 and what it will be like to be a mother of 2 daughters. I keep finding my pregnancy very special and we are really looking forward to meet her. Look below further for more pictures.

Holidays with kids at the Dutch coast: “Huisje van Hout” in Noordwijk

I am now almost 36 weeks pregnant of the second one and this week we enjoy our last holiday with the three of us in the Netherlands on the Dutch coast. I found a too sweet and cute little wooden house near Noordwijk aan Zee. This week we are going to enjoy the sun, sea and beach in our own country in the Netherlands. And as icing on the cake we will also visit the flowering dahlia fields that are only in bloom this month.

Huisje van Hout (wooden holiday home) is located just behind the dunes between Noordwijk and Noordwijkerhout. Did you know that the Dutch North Sea coast is 523 km long? Plenty of places to discover! If you go on holiday with a toddler then comfort and convenience is the most important thing for us. Luckily holiday home “Huisje van Hout” exceeded all our expectations and I give you all the tips below on what you can do in the area with small children.

Family holiday Dominican Republic with young kids

Years ago when I flew around the world as a flight attendant, the Dominican Republic was one of mine favourite destinations. It all started when we landed at Punta Cana airport. As a passenger you get off the plane and within 5 minutes you walk into the half-open airport, complete with a gabled roof with reed while a cool breeze is blowing through it. The Dominican people are very nice and super relaxed and you are immediately in the holiday mood. Welcome to the Dominican Republic!

I’ve always said I want to come back, only then with my family. My dear friend Linda preceded me by travelling to the Dominican Republic for two weeks this summer together with her husband and three young children. In the end it turned out to be a holiday to remember and when you read her travelogue and see the pictures, I can understand that she got homesick when she came home from this tropical and beautiful island in the Caribbean.

Holidays with kids to Sardinia: all must sees!

Since our last roadtrip through Europe I have become a bit attached to Italy. Besides the emerging Puglia region, Italy has a large number of islands, of which Sicily and Sardinia are the largest. This time I didn’t go on a trip to beautiful Italy, but thanks to my friend Marjolijn, who has been spending over the years her holidays on the beautiful island of Sardinia with her family.

As a true specialist of the island, she shares here her tips on how to best spend your holidays with children and what are nice places to visit in Sardinia. From beautiful azure bay beaches to idyllic Italian villages, Sardinia has it all and is not for nothing called the Maldives of Europe by the Italians themselves. Curious what Sardinia has to offer for young families? Marjolijn likes to share all her tips here with you!

SCHIERMONNIKOOG ISLAND HAS THE WIDEST BEACH IN EUROPE!

This year I’m going on a holiday in the Netherlands for the first time in my life. Yes, you read it correctly, I’m going on holiday in my own country! Why go far away when there is so much beauty to discover in our own “little frog” country? Of course it also plays a role that we now have a 2 years old little girl hopping around, and that I am now 7 months pregnant with the second one. Besides that, I didn’t feel like visiting the heat of southern Europe this time. Just give me 20+ degrees with a little sun and my holiday can’t go wrong anymore.

So I went investigating on the web what beautiful places in the Netherlands are to visit with small children. For those who know me you know that I love luxury and comfort, and especially now with a little one you want to experience the same feeling at home with all conveniences at hand.  On the internet I quickly came across the luxury holiday homes of Dutchen. I always wanted to go to one of the Frisian Islands and therefore we kick off this summer with a holiday to lake Lauwersmeer and the island of Schiermonnikoog!

Dreams come true, my personal story

It’s been a while since I shared a personal blog, and now the end of the year is approaching it’s another great moment to look back. Not last year but the past two years were very special and a rollercoaster of highlights, and of course also lesser times.

Despite the beautiful trips we have made, the most beautiful event was the birth of our daughter Sofie last year summer. Now that she is a bit older and more independent, I’m lucky to have some more time for my blog and we’re secretly making great plans for 2019.

It all started 2 years ago when I was totally unexpectedly pregnant, to be precise in December 2016. We had just booked our tickets to the Maldives as the start of our 3 month journey through Asia. That shouldn’t spoil the fun, because with a declaration of pregnancy in our pocket we started our second big travel adventure.
